I've never understood how monetary compensation for work performed gets determined. I'll give you my favorite example of why the subject confuses me. In the fall of 1991, the Wall Street Journal ran an article lauding an employee of IT&T. In spring of 1992, the Journal ran an article lauding another IT&T employee. He certainly brings up valuable points that certain manufacturers, sellers and consumers would rather not hear or think about. More ... I am seeking out a conservative or libertarian, who is also opposed to abortion, who would be willing to run for Congress in the new Fifth Congressional District. Your opponents would be U.S. Rep. James Maloney, a principled Democrat, and U.S. Rep. Nancy Johnson, an unprincipled Republican. The Green Party may also put up a candidate, who would be the only real social democrat in the contest. All three, however, would support abortion as a constitutional right. More ... Richard Reeves, in an editorial printed in the Hartford Courant on November 12 [Bush and Nixon: A Cautionary Tale], displays the worst side of the press. He says, "Bush is trying to cut Congress and the press out of the decision-making loop." More ... Collection agents play upon the fears of those they are pursuing. But if you know the rules of the game, there is less to fear. The collection agents who holler the most are likely the ones who have no power to do anything else. Once you know the difference, you can make better choices with your limited funds. More ...
