The Friends of Brodie Park held the first of many "Friendly Foosball Tournaments" on Saturday, February 16 at Berkshire Hall in New Hartford. Approximately 30 people participated in this fun-filled event. Grand champions of the tournament were the team of John Pierce and Gary Morrissey, who cleanly eliminated all the competition!

Other notable competitors included the teams of Eric and Creighton Claman, awarded "Most Body Contact"; Joe and Mel Camilleri (Mel was awarded "Most Body Movement); and Dave and Patty Wolkowicz, awarded "Fastest Elimination." In a surprise upset, Trish Morrissey and Maureen Morris were awarded "Loudest."

Local merchants and vendors generously donated door prizes, as follows: Elena Ahlers won a gift basket donated by Marta Rubenoff of "Baskets by Marta"; Pat McDonald won an assortment of wines donated by Todd and Mary Sage; Melanie Camilleri and Chris Nadeau won a bottle of wine from The Grog Shoppe; Patty Wolkowicz won a gift certificate to Full Belly Deli; Joe Camilleri won a bottle of wine donated by Deb and John Pierce; Alice Dunlop won an O'Mara's liqueur gift set donated by Bakerville Package Store; Tony Smith won an umbrella donated by Dunkin Donuts; Mark Wieduwilt won a gift certificate to the Cutting Corner; Geoff Burrill won a bottle of Luna di Luna wine; Maureen Morris won a cordless screwdriver donated by Hoffman Hardware; Laurie Burrill won a gift certificate to Moscarillo's Garden Center; Deb Pierce and Marta Rubenoff won Dunkin Donuts mugs filled with goodies; Patty Wolkowicz won a candle setting donated by New Hartford Junction; and Eric Claman won a pair of ski passes donated by Ski Sundown.

The Friendly Foosball Tournament, and all other activities sponsored by the Friends of Brodie Park, are held to raise funds to maintain and improve the park. Upcoming events include "Ladies' Nite Out" on Friday, March 1 at Berkshire Hall in Brodie Park. There is no admission charge, and ladies are invited to come enjoy some complimentary refreshments, visit with local vendors like Pampered Chef, Tupperware and others, get a chair massage, and see what other surprises are in store. Participating vendors are donating a percentage of their profits to the Playscape Fund of the Friends of Brodie Park.
