Nancy Tucker at University of Hartford
     Nancy Tucker, an enthusiastic, accomplished and delightful entertainer, will appear at the University of Hartford on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilde Auditorium, located in the Harry Jack Gray Center. This concert is part of the 2002 "Music for a Change" benefit concert series; proceeds will benefit Covenant to Care, an interfaith nonprofit organization that connects child-care workers with faith communities throughout Connecticut to provide programs, goods and services to abused, neglected and impoverished children and their families.

Acclaimed Pianists to Perform at Thomaston Opera House
     The Thomaston Opera House has been selected by the Adams Foundation of Santa Barbara, CA as one of five cities to participate in a pilot series of piano recitals by acclaimed pianists in the spring of 2002. The series is designed to reestablish piano recitals in communities throughout America. The recitals at the Thomaston Opera House will feature duo-pianists Richard and John Contiguglia on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m.; and pianist Robert Blocker on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m.

New Hartford Lions Antique Show
     The New Hartford Lions Club holds its 10th annual antique show on Sunday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Northwest Regional School #7, 1009 Battistoni Drive (off Route 44) in Winsted. Over 70 antique dealers from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania will be displaying a wide variety of furniture, pottery, silver, jewelry, art glass, linens, dolls, prints, post cards, rugs, clocks, baskets, toys, china, tools, lamps and lighting fixtures.

A Harvest of Seasonal Stories
     The Great Barrington Council on Aging presents storyteller Davis Bates in a program of stories and songs to celebrate the season and the diverse heritage of the New England region on Friday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at the Great Barrington Senior Center. Entitled "Celebrating New England: A Harvest of Seasonal Stories," the program will involve the audience, through song and story, in a variety of cultural traditions. It will include farming stories and songs from both the past and present, sea songs and chanteys, Native American stories, folktales from immigrant cultures, and family stories from Davis' own family. There will also be plenty of sing-alongs.

Art on Display at Northwest Chamber of Commerce
     Artwell Gallery has begun a new program—installing art exhibitions in the offices the Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Connecticut, 333 Kennedy Drive in Torrington. The Chamber of Commerce has agreed to transform the walls of its foyer and conference rooms into gallery spaces. The works of two artists, Don Duffy and John Johnson, are currently on display.

TriArts Buys Sharon Playhouse
     Patricia Best, President of the Board of Directors of TriArts, has announced that, after renting the theatre for the past three seasons of very successful productions, TriArts has completed the long-anticipated purchase of the Playhouse complex. In addition to the theatre itself, the complex includes offices, a dormitory building, the costume shop, and the Gallery.
