Ballet Ole
     Ballet Ole is Nutmeg Ballet’s spring performance series. This year Nutmeg is excited to announce an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary dance, including classic repertoire and brand new choreography, to be presented at MainStage on the campus of Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. There will be three unique programs of classical and contemporary dance to choose from: Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 18 at 2 p.m.; and Saturday, May 18 at 8 p.m.

Big Daddy’s Barbecue
     Big Daddy’s Barbecue, the official charity sponsor of Connecticut Bike Week, is held twice yearly in conjunction with the spring and fall Connecticut Bike Week events. This very worthy charity event draws families and bikers alike. Each year the barbecue is attended by over 500 biker and non-biker enthusiasts. Returning visitors know it is always a day filled with plenty of good food, entertainment, raffles, and opportunities to view varied and beautiful motorcycles of many makes and models.

International Youth Art Exchange Exhibit in New Hartford
     Abby Holcomb of New Hartford, a student at the Ann Raymond Center for the Arts, submitted her artwork to the International Youth Art Exchange Program, sponsored by the World Awareness Children’s Exchange in Glens Falls, NY. Her painting recently took first place in the country!

Litchfield County Antiques Show
     For the third consecutive year, the Litchfield County Antiques Show will be presented by the Antiques Council at the Goshen Fairgrounds, Route 63 in Goshen. Public hours for this year's show are Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets, valid for both days, are $8; proceeds will benefit Greenwoods Counseling Services, Inc. The Gala Preview Party will be on Friday, May 17 from 6:30-9 p.m.; party tickets, which include show admission, start at $75.

Torrington Symphony Orchestra's Spring Concert
     The Torrington Symphony Orchestra performs its Spring Concert entitled "Movers and Shakers" on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St. in Torrington. The orchestra, under the direction of conductor Charles Fidlar and joined by the Northwestern Festival Chorus and the Connecticut Yankee Chorale, will present a varied program of music by Johan Hartmann, Igor Stravinsky and Alexander Borodin.

Winsted Rotary Pet Parade
     The 66th annual Winsted Rotary Pet Parade will be held on Saturday, May 18 (rain date is Sunday, May 19) starting at 2 p.m. sharp. This unique event invites the children of Winsted, New Hartford, Colebrook, Norfolk and Barkhamsted to parade down Winsted’s Main Street with their favorite pet in tow. The Rotary Club also sponsors a poster contest and prizes for the best floats for each age category. All the area bands, color guards and dignitaries have been invited to participate. Many grandparents and parents who once marched in the parade are now watching their own kids participate.
