Litchfield County Antiques Show For the third consecutive year, the Litchfield County Antiques Show will be presented by the Antiques Council at the Goshen Fairgrounds, Route 63 in Goshen. Public hours for this year's show are Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets, valid for both days, are $8; proceeds will benefit Greenwoods Counseling Services, Inc. The Gala Preview Party will be on Friday, May 17 from 6:30-9 p.m.; party tickets, which include show admission, start at $75. The Honorary Chairman of the 2002 Litchfield County Antiques Show is Peter Tillou of Litchfield, an internationally renowned antique collector and educator. Just before the Gala Preview Party, Mr. Tillou will lead a private tour of the show for upper-level donors to Greenwoods. Wendell Garrett, Senior Vice President of American Decorative Arts at Sotheby's and Editor-at-Large of The Magazine Antiques, will host "A Collectors Conversation with Wendell Garrett" on Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m.; tickets are $20 including show admission. Using the loan exhibition Litchfield County in 1802: Looking Back Two Centuries as a starting point, he will talk about how fine and everyday objects are carriers of memory, transmitting knowledge across generations. Coordinated by the Litchfield Historical Society, Litchfield County in 1802 will display objects from the collections of a number of Litchfield County historical societies at the Antiques Show. In keeping with the 1802 theme, several of the 40-plus exhibitors are expected to show paintings, furniture, folk art and other pieces from around that time, some with a Litchfield County provenance. In addition to fine furniture and paintings, the show's relatively small number of select exhibitors offer country furniture, folk art, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, and oriental rugs. The Litchfield County Antiques Show is the major fundraiser for Greenwoods Counseling Services, a nonprofit, non-sectarian referral organization serving Litchfield County since 1992.
