TORRINGTON

: Holy Trinity Church, 64 Berry St. (one block west of Migeon Ave.) holds its annual dinner from 4-7 p.m. This is a complete boneless, marinated grilled Chicken Kabob Dinner, with potato salad, baked beans, salad, roll, a dessert bar, beverage and more. HARTFORD

: Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz hosts an Import-Export Trade Seminar from 9 a.m.-noon on the campus of Hartford College for Women. Designed for Connecticut businesses interested in taking advantage of emerging foreign markets, trade opportunities in the Caribbean and Latin America will be featured in conjunction with local celebrations of the 40th anniversary of West Indian independence. Presentations from the U.S. Dept. of Customs, Commerce and Agriculture as well as the Small Business Administration and Webster Bank are scheduled; panel discussions will also be held on topics such as foreign trade services and utilizing e-commerce. TORRINGTON

: The City of Torrington holds a public workshop on the downtown redevelopment project from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Yankee Pedlar on Main St. This is one of a series of sessions that will play an important role in shaping the redevelopment project, and will be a crucial component of the City’s conceptual master plan for downtown. Topics to be discussed at this meeting include traffic and parking issues, designation of development areas and reasonable alternatives. Everyone interested in shaping the downtown redevelopment project is encouraged to attend and provide input. : United Congregational Church, 1622 Torringford St. (Route 183) holds a Pancake Breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. for the benefit of Susan Capuano and her three young children. Susan has terminal cancer, and while she is still able she wants to take her children to Disney World in Florida in mid August. Tickets are $5 adults, $2.50 children (12 and under).
