Thanks for the Memory (Ride) By Edie Hofstatter, Norfolk
Edie, along with her son Lucas and husband David, enjoyed the hospitality of Margaritas in Canton during a benefit for the Memory Ride on July 25.
Memory Ride 2002 is now "just" a memory … and a mighty fine memory, at that! After driving to Vermont amid thunder, lightning and pouring rain, the weekend weather on July 20-21 turned out to be just perfect. Sixty-two bicycle riders and a nearly equal number of support crew raised close to $150,000—100% of which is going to research to find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease!
I would like to extend a very special thank you to Dan Garza and Margaritas Restaurant, along with their sponsor, Ski Market, for hosting a benefit night on Thursday, July 25; the event raised nearly $400, in addition to the percentage of the evening’s profits that were so generously donated by Dan and Margaritas. A special thanks, also, to Gary, Robin and the rest of the staff at The Voice for helping to spread the word about the Memory Ride and its mission.
It is a wonderful feeling to be able to do something meaningful to help fight this devastating disease. My thanks to all who offered their sponsorship and their support. If anyone else would like to join the fight to find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease by participating in next year's Memory Ride as a bicycle rider or a crew member, please check out their website at <www.memoryride.org>.
