Tuesday, August 13 marked the end of a four-week tennis program for 6- to 12-year-olds at the Walker Field tennis courts in Winsted. The tennis instructions were part of the 8-week summer playground program sponsored by the Winsted Recreation Department. Classes ranged in size from 18-20 students.

Rackets were donated by the town’s Recreation Department and Joseph Veilleux, balls by Putnam Tennis Courts, and instruction by Joseph Veilleux of Winsted, James John Veilleux of Canton, George Mubarek of Winsted, and pro Tony Taverna from the "Perfect Racquet" in Avon.
