90th Goshen Fair on Labor Day Weekend The 90th Goshen Fair, offered by the Goshen Agricultural Society, runs from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1; and from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday (Labor Day), September 2. The Goshen Fair offers something for everyone. Exhibits include flowers, fruit, vegetables, canning, needlework and sewing, arts and crafts, photography, bakery, and a children’s department. Animal exhibits include dairy and beef cattle, goats, draught animals, sheep, swine, poultry and rabbits. Entertainment this year features the River Street Band at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day; Stone Canyon Band performing country music at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday; Shirley’s Country Line Dance lessons from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 2-4:30 p.m. on Monday; Northwestern Concert Band at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday; and the Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers at 11 a.m. on Sunday. A juggler and magician will entertain the children with performances several times each day. Also, Layton’s Percheron draft horse team will be giving several demonstrations each day of the fair. There will be a midway with rides and games of chance, plenty of food, and vendors showing and selling their wares. Other events on Saturday include a draft horse show at 8:30 a.m.; garden tractor pull at 10 a.m.; poultry judging at 10 a.m.; rabbit judging at noon; pony draw at 1 p.m.; and woodcutting demonstrations at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday’s events include junior dairy fitting and showing at 9 a.m.; swine and sheep judging at 10 a.m.; junior beef show at 10 a.m.; woodcutting contest at noon; and horse drawing at 1 p.m. Special events on Monday include the junior and open dairy show at 9 a.m.; oxen and goat judging at 9:30 a.m.; pork cook-off at 10:30 a.m.; antique tractor pull at 11 a.m.; and woodcutting contest at noon. The fairgrounds are located on Route 63 south of the rotary in Goshen. Admission is $6 for adults; children under 12 will be admitted free. Admission for senior citizens on Saturday (only) is $4.
