Wartime Memorabilia on Exhibit in Kent The Kent Historical Society has announced plans to extend its summer-long show of wartime memorabilia, opening the exhibit at Seven Hearths to the public on Wednesday, September 11 and again on Veterans Day, November 11. The show, organized by KHS Director Marge McAvoy and KHS volunteers, includes many letters, uniforms, news clippings and other items recalling America’s wars from the Revolution to the present. Many, though not all, items relate directly to Kent families past or present. The decision to reopen this summer exhibit, which normally would end Labor Day weekend, on September 11 is in support of a nationwide effort to have communities conduct patriotic programs on the first anniversary of last September’s terrorist attacks. The exhibits fill most of the ground floor of Seven Hearths, the society’s 250-year-old museum on Route 7 about 1.7 miles north of Kent. They are open to the public each Saturday and Sunday from 2-4:30 p.m. |
