Fete & Faire to Benefit Torrington Community Kitchen
St. Michael's Fete & Faire, an arts and crafts festival scheduled for Sunday, September 8, will bring a medieval flair to the village of Litchfield and much-needed funds for the Torrington Community Kitchen. The soup kitchen is totally funded by community donations and is currently in desperate need.
The event is free to the public and will be held on church grounds at 25 South St. in Litchfield, just off the green. There will be vendors of all things creative and handcrafted, dolls and dollhouses, painted furniture, artworks, Pampered Chef, gourmet foods, quilts, folk art, candles, spring bulbs, roasted pig dinners, watercolors, wreaths, Treasures and Tunes, quillows, angels, sculpted baskets, jewelry, flower arrangements and musical performances.
A silent auction held inside the church will feature everything from wonderful pottery to fabulous interior design services. Children's entertainment includes sack races, face painting and tattoos, and sno-cones. Medieval soothsayers will predict futures with magical stones and jesters will entertain. Even the animals are included, with the Blessing of the Animals, a dog walk down South St., and an animal lookalike contest.
St. Michael's Fete & Faire will be held from noon-6 p.m., the same time as Litchfield's well known Borough Day featuring historical reenactments, stagecoach rides, fiddlers and craft demonstrations on the green. All proceeds of the Fete & Faire will directly benefit the Torrington Community Kitchen.
