Popular Winsted Book in Second Printing June Senack's Images, Winsted, Connecticut is now in its second printing and copies will be available at local merchants in town. The first edition, which came out last year, was a complete sell-out. The book has been widely praised by area historians for the reproduction of early photographs of Winsted, which provide an authentic record of the history of the town from 1835-1955. The second printing became necessary when the demand exceeded the supply of the first run. June Senack, a professional genealogist and former curator at Winchester Historical Society, continues to work as a volunteer at the Beardsley & Memorial Library, where she is putting together notebooks and special projects on various aspects of the history and the people of the area. "There will be a limited number of books available after the present orders are filled," Mrs. Senack said. Local residents are buying multiple copies and sending them out to Winsted natives now located through the United States." She said she has found the response enormously satisfying and is happy to think that the book will continue to give residents and former residents a look at the town as it was in former times. The book includes 193 black and white photographs, and the cost is $39.22, which includes 6% tax. It will be available in Winsted at Christine's Flower Shoppe on Main St.; Getting Off in Ledgebrook Plaza; New Images, 18 Elm St.; Richards Jewelers, 572 Main St.; Outlook Design Florists & Gifts, 304 Main St.; Voice News, 448 Main St.; Young Fashions, 390 Main St.; and at Natural Wave, Route 44 in Barkhamsted. |
