Antique Appraisal and Auction in Falls Village The 3rd annual Antique Appraisal and Silent Auction benefiting the D.M. Hunt Library will be held in Falls Village on Saturday, September 21. The appraisals will be conducted from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Lee H. Kellogg School, and the silent auction will take place that afternoon at D.M. Hunt Library. The public is invited to bring antiques and collectibles to be appraised by specialists; brief, written appraisals will be provided. The appraisal fee is $10 for the first item and $5 for each additional item. The list of appraisers, many of whom are participating for the third consecutive year, includes Steve Kahn for antique and estate jewelry; Dan Dwyer of Johnnycake Books; Dennis Wills for 19th century photography, daguerreotypes, Native American blankets, rugs and baskets; Fred Balling for fishing, hunting and sporting antiques; Titi Halle for textiles and costumes; Marion Harris for outsider art and untraditional antiques; Jim Burke for silver and brass; Virginia Rosen for silver, jewelry, and Asian art; Vic Reilling for toys and games; Joanne Grant, Barbara Mintz and Rusty Ettinger for general antiques; and antique dealers with expertise in the areas of painting, quilts, furniture, clocks and more. Among the specialists are professionals known internationally at the major auction houses, in addition to those who appear on PBS television's The Antiques Road Show. The Silent Auction portion of the event will be held at D.M. Hunt Library, just down the street from Kellogg School in Falls Village. Initial bidding on auction items will begin at 2 p.m., and final bidding will take place during the cocktail party from 5-7 p.m. Tickets to the evening auction party are $25 per person and $40 per couple in advance, or $30 per person and $45 per couple at the door. Proceeds from the Antique Appraisal and Auction will benefit the D.M. Hunt Library Endowment Fund and annual operating expenses. D.M. Hunt Library, celebrating its 111th anniversary, is a vital institution to Falls Village and the surrounding towns.
