Salisbury Lions Club News The Salisbury Lions Club would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their support of the club’s recent fundraising event: Lakeville Automotive, Lakeville Taxi Service, Wallace Refuse Service, C.A. Lindell Fuels, Birgit Jensen, Creative Edge Salon, Lakeville Fitness Center, Ellora’s Day Spa, Millerton Vet Clinic, Hilltop Polo, Bar-Mike Kennel, Dashing Dogs, Interior Inspirations, Debbie Brinley Buckley, Visionary Computer, Helen Brandt, Ultraclean, Fudali Galleries, and Sultan of Soot. The Salisbury Lions Club provides food baskets to local families for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, provides scholarships to undergraduates and graduate students, supports the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, CRIS radio programs, macular degeneration research, and numerous other projects for the benefit of those facing the challenges of low vision and hearing impairments. The club collects used eyeglasses throughout the year for shipment to third world nations. The Salisbury Lions are offering a minimum $500 scholarship to a Salisbury/ Lakeville undergraduate student who has completed his or her freshman year in college, as well as a minimum $250 scholarship to a graduate student. While academic performance will be a factor in determining the recipients, proof of community involvement will be heavily weighed in the evaluation. Applications for the scholarships are available at the Salisbury Town Hall and Housatonic Valley Regional High School, or from any Lions Club member. Past applicants, including recipients, are eligible to reapply. Applications must be completed by October 21; applicants will be notified of the club’s decision by November 18. The Salisbury Lions Club welcomes new members; anyone with interest is invited to attend one of the club’s meetings on the first Tuesday and the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the White Hart Inn in Salisbury. |
