Audubon Kids’ Day in Sharon

Audubon Sharon hosts its annual Audubon Kids’ Day on Sunday, October 27 from 1-4:15 p.m. at the Sharon Audubon Center, located on Route 4 in Sharon. This fun-filled autumn family event features various nature crafts and games for young children. Among the crafts under the tent this year will be plate fish, moose heads, paper flower bouquets, potato prints, and the always anticipated Merry Marsh. Games such as "Feed the Frog" and "Pin the Eyes on the Owl" are also popular with the children.

Besides games and crafts under the tent, there will also be pumpkin carving, a petting zoo, and a hay bale maze constructed out of over 100 bales! Food will be served, including hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, candy apples, pumpkin pie, apple cider and more. Following the crafts and games, at 3 p.m. children are invited to join in a costume parade around the Center grounds led by a marching band, Thrifty Bear from NewMil Bank, and the friendly animals of the Enchanted Forest. All children are encouraged to wear a costume.

At the close of the parade, children and their families can finish off the afternoon by sitting back and enjoying the stories and songs of local children's entertainers Tom Hanford and Kath Bloom. Tom and Kath's performances for children mix music, storytelling, masks and stage sets to create dynamic impressions. Kath is a co-founder of Love at Work Children Theater, and both Tom and Kath teach Music Together classes for preschoolers around the area.

Admission to the event is $5 per carload. (Don't forget the daylight savings time change!) For more info call the Sharon Audubon Center at 860-364-0520.
