Neighborhood News Is Back! Neighborhood News Is Back! By Nina R. Phalen, Torrington The people at the Sullivan Senior Center knew who to contact when Cablevision dropped a popular show in Litchfield County called Neighborhood News, which was broadcast daily. "Mike will get it back for us," commented one Sullivan member. And right she was. Mike got out several petitions almost immediately after the show was taken off the air. Thousands of signatures were received. Governor Rowland was in town during the weeks that Mike had the petitions out, and he signed along with other politicians in the county, which greatly helped the cause. Mike, I know a lot of people, including me, appreciate all your time and effort in bring back Neighborhood News. I know Mr. Zeiner was most appreciative as I heard him sign off the other night. So thanks again. Just remember, citizens, who was there to lend a hand for you. Mr. Driscoll, on behalf of all who watch the show, we can't thank you enough. Our hats are off to you! Nice work. |
