Marana Norton Brooks Chapter, DAR to Meet

Marana Norton Brooks Chapter, DAR meets in the Carriage House of the Torrington Historical Society on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. Husbands and guests are welcome.

Mrs. Orrin Fritz, Honorary State Regent, will present DAR Good Citizen Awards to three area high school seniors: Ryan Phalen of Torrington High School, son of Mrs. Nina Phalen; Michelle Gore of Oliver Wolcott Regional Vocational-Technical School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Gore; and Carl H. Ciarcia of Lewis S. Mills Regional High School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ciarcia.

Mr. Walter Landgraf, curator of the Stone Museum in Pleasant Valley, will give a slide presentation entitled "Life Along the Wolcott Road," the main thoroughfare in the late 1770s for transporting iron from the Salisbury furnace to Hartford. His talk will also feature the early settlers on the road, the farms and sawmills, and the 1795 Squires Tavern, which is now being restored by the Barkhamsted Historical Society.

Hostesses will be Mrs. Eugene Schutz, Mrs. Kenneth McClen and Mrs. Jeffrey Shea.
