Tax Amnesty Program Ends Soon Do you know which Connecticut tax produces the most revenue for the state? The answer is the Connecticut Individual Income Tax, which accounted for 48% of all tax collected by the Department of Revenue Services during the last fiscal year. If you owe or think you owe Connecticut back taxes, you have less than one month left to take advantage of the state’s 2002 Tax Amnesty Program. Under Amnesty, individuals and businesses who owe Connecticut back taxes from any period that ended on or before March 31, 2002 can come forward and pay the tax and interest without penalty or prosecution, while receiving a 25% reduction in the interest owed. The program runs through midnight on November 30. Amnesty applications are available at libraries, post offices and town halls throughout the state.
