Insatiable Insanity

By Louis D. Jacaruso, Bantam

There are several recent Voice articles I could respond to, like "Welcome to Act II" [by Lorraine Stone, November 22] and "Was It Right or Wrong" [by Harry Scapin, November 22]. My response is to point to the basic problem, not the symptoms.

I am reminded of Abraham Lincoln's first handling of a murder trial, when the experienced lawyer stated to him: "You don't know much about law, do you?" Lincoln responded: "I may not know much about the law, but I know right from wrong." Needless to say, Lincoln, with a keen understanding and observation of human nature, won the case by probing the man he sensed to be guilty until he confessed.

The basic problems of Iraq and war and terrorism, of pollution and the starving millions on our planet, are instigated by the money and tax system of usury manipulated by the rich, who rule in every country and control Congress in America. Wars are fought for possession of land and natural resources—the fight is over oil as the rich cartels refuse to share the world’s natural resources. Meanwhile, to protect and increase their wealth, these cartels suppress inventions that could provide us free energy. In this system of gambling and money manipulation and taxes, the politicians serve the rich in the name of greed.

Immigration, drugs, pollution, wars, etc.—all are problems because of money. How do countries claim to talk peace when they spy on each other and lie, ever playing politics as the earth and mankind are exploited for the profits provided by material things, while our spiritual heritage is ignored?

Those in the banking business rule, and business transactions continue for profit as we fight each other in war and "peace." Corporations use child labor and sweatshops to rip off Americans, and avoid taxes by locating in countries outside of the U.S. "Made in China" would be fine if the rich did not profit from the cheap labor of those with a low standard of living. Why do so many countries have poor standards of living and hate the U.S. for its wealth?

The world’s natural resources are not shared, yet there is abundance for all. Competition is rampant, as seen in "sports" when spectators go insane over the outcome of the game and destroy autos and property. They become insane like the super-rich, who are like drug addicts: the more money and power they have, the more they want—insatiable insanity.

Politics, money and tax slavery must be replaced with an honest means of exchange and sharing if we are to survive. The worship of the money god, the gambling, the competition must stop. Money is worshipped above all real values. Whose inscription is on the coin? Let there be light!
