More Magic at Canton Public Library

Like any guests, performers can tell they’ve been a big hit when they’re invited back. Such is the case for Christopher Hurlburt, a Connecticut-based magician who has been entrancing his audiences not just in his home state but nationally and even internationally.

The Magic of Christopher—which returns to Canton Public Library, 40 Dowd Ave. in Canton on Saturday, January 11 at 1 p.m.—is entertainment that appeals to all ages, which makes it great family entertainment (except perhaps for the very youngest). Christopher’s act is just the right blend of comedy, mystery and suspense, with a little audience participation thrown into the mix. His droll, sophisticated humor is a large part of his appeal.

Christopher began his career as a professional clown, performing seven shows a day at an amusement park. Now, 15 years and thousands of shows later, he has appeared at elementary and secondary schools, libraries, bookstores, corporate events, trade shows and private parties—you name it, he’s been there! According to Christopher, "From comedy clubs to biker bars, I’ve performed in every venue imaginable. There is not an audience I haven’t seen."

Performing about 200 shows a year, Christopher has appeared throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Europe. Last summer he did shows for military personnel and families in Europe. His broad experience is evident to his audiences, as is his delight in what he does. His audiences have fun because Christopher has fun. And Christopher is not your average magician with the same tired old tricks, so expect to be surprised. Mind reading? Fire eating? Daring escapes? Who knows what we’ll see!

The event is free, with no registration required; ages 5 and up are invited. Christopher’s appearance is jointly sponsored the Canton Public Library and Canton Parks and Recreation; for more info call 860-693-5800.
