Wisdom House Endowment Fund

Wisdom House, a retreat and conference center on East Litchfield Rd. in Litchfield, has announced the launch of an ambitious Endowment Fund to provide a permanent source of income for the center. Wisdom House became a place of spiritual formation for the Daughters of Wisdom in 1949. In recent years the center has been developed as an interfaith retreat and conference center. Programs are offered that meet the educational, spiritual, cultural and artistic needs of a diverse people. Wisdom House is also a hospitable meeting environment for interfaith groups and community organizations. In addition, Wisdom House is designated as a official emergency shelter for Litchfield and surrounding communities. A number of people received a warm room, meals and companionship during the recent ice storm in the Litchfield area.

The center is a not-for-profit charity that relies upon volunteers, contributions and fees to carry out its mission. Every year thousands of people from around the world, from different walks of life and spiritual traditions, find solace, support, motivation and enlightenment at Wisdom House. The main building has ten meeting rooms and accommodations for 120 guests. The historic farm house has four meeting rooms and fourteen bedrooms. Wisdom House also features the Marie Louise Trichet Art Gallery, a chapel, an outdoor labyrinth, outdoor sanctuaries, and over 54 acres of gardens and forest.

The Wisdom House Endowment Fund will help to provide a permanent source of income to expand collaborative efforts with educational and arts organizations, expand publicity efforts, offer additional programs for youth , continue to invite experts in spirituality, creativity and dedication to enhance program offerings, renovate the barn and restore the gardens for the enjoyment of guests and the local community.
