Welcome to 2003
Judy Pavlak has recently declared that her group's olive branch to the Winsted Health Center Foundation was unfairly dismissed [Peace at Last at the Foundation?, January 1]. The olive branch consisted of approximately five years of constant hate messages in the media for the Nader family, the Winsted Health Center Foundation, their corporators, trustees and employees. When they failed over and over again to persuade other corporators to join them in their demands, they implemented a silly lawsuit against the Foundation. Well now, I don't know about you, but I see a dead twig—not an olive branch. Regarding the Town of Winchester’s latest round of charter revision: If the charter changes being proposed had been implemented prior to Winchester's last budget process, we would have two major building projects in operation today. The regional alternate school and a new safety complex would have been started, plus additional monies for the projects would be needed every year until the buildings were ready for occupancy. Both of these projects had little support of the voters, and the regional alternate school project was defeated at referendum by approximately four to one. This message of what could have been should be a wake-up call for Winchester voters to defeat the current Charter Revision Commission proposals. You need to ask who would benefit from the passage of this plan. If you do not work for the town or are not a selectman, you lose! Have a nice day. |
